6th Annual Perry Idol Sold Out | Arts & Culture

The 6th Annual Perry Idol competition sold out of its 400+ seats on Friday morning before the event. Held on Saturday, April 10th at the River Church in Kathleen, this event had 23 contestants perform a variety of songs and included two categories, Adult and Jr. with the following contestants: Grace Thomas, Dawn Nobles Weaks, Michael Stewart, Dennis Stubbs Jr., Tristen Sledge, Taylor Simpson, Allie Renner, Jill Myrick, Carson Piper, Morgan James, Olivia Kessel, Austin French, Evelyn Jones, Macy Ellis, Dejai Harrell, Valerie Davis, Taylor Garrison, Jessica Davis, Hannah French, Sydney Thompson, Valerie Clark-Lee, Kathryn Buchanan, and Rian Bellamy. The 2012 MC’s, last year’s winners Ben Robins and Cassy Chaney, added a lot of extra fun to the show.

After all contestants sang their song the top 12 were picked based on the scores given by the three judges. The 12 included six Jr. Contestants and six Adult Contestants.

Valerie Clark-Lee won the Adult Perry Idol Title and Austin French won the First Runner Up Adult Perry Idol. Hannah French won the Jr. Perry Idol Title and Allie Renner won the First Runner Up Jr. Perry Idol Title. Prizes to the winners of the 6th Annual Perry Idol included $300 cash to the Adult First Place Winner and $150 Cash to the Runner Up. $150 cash went to the Jr. First Place Winner and $75 cash went to the Jr. Second Place Winner.

The contestants will have the opportunity to sing at the 24th Annual Perry Dogwood Festival.
