Perry Idol Finale Scheduled

The Perry Idol Finale will be held Saturday, March 19th, 6:00pm at the River Church in Kathleen Ga.

Tickets will be sold at the Perry Chamber in advance $7 for Adults, $3 for Children.

Cost the night of the event will be $10 for Adults, $5 for children. Call (478) 987-1234 for details.

In the Adult Category (Ages 15 and up) are: Aveon Williams, Ben Robbins, Chad Davis, Dawn Weaks, Gina Hodges, Jessica Davis, Jill Davis, Kerrence Thomas, Mikanell Rodriguez, Morgan James, Sam Fisher and Wesley Willis, Jr. The two alternates that were chosen were Samantha Bartlette and Taylor Dixon.

In the Jr. Category (Ages 7 to 14) are: Abbigail Fisher, Cassy Chaney, Evelyn Jones, Grace Thomas, Hannah Hunt, J'Quan E. Gulley, Katherine Weaks, Olivia Kessel, Rylee Crouch, Tiffany Morgan, Tristen Sledge and Valerie Davis. The two alternates that were chosen were DeLaine Crutchfield and Taylor Garrison.

Auditions were held in February.

Miss Dogwood Pageant

The Miss Dogwood Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, March 5.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. with Tiny Miss Dogwood, Little Miss Dogwood and Junior Miss Dogwood.

At 7:30 p.m., the pageant will feature Miss Pre-Teen Dogwood, Miss Teen Dogwood and Miss Dogwood.

The pageants will take place in the Perry High School Auditorium.

The 23rd Annual Perry Dogwood Festival is scheduled for April 9-10.

Westfield Chorus and Literary Team Preview Concert

The Westfield School Upper School Chorus and Literary Team will have a Preview Concert on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall. 

The Literary Team won the 2010 GISA AAA State Literary Championship.

The event is free and open to the community.

Capitol Art Exhibit Features Perry High

Art by Perry High School students was featured in the Capitol Art Exhibit in Atlanta.  Christian Culpepper, Robyn Smith and art teacher Catherine Heller attended a reception that featured the art on Feb. 9.  Christian’s and Robyn’s artwork is on display in the Twin Towers Jan. 29 through Feb. 26.

Westfield Baseball Welcomes Alum Jeff Barfield

The Westfield School and its varsity baseball team and coaches will recognize former Westfield pitcher Jeff Barfield, a 2006 graduate and four-year varsity baseball letterman, at its pre-season home baseball game Thursday, Feb 24 at 5 p.m.

Barfield signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers following his collegiate career at the University of Florida where he pitched in the 2010 College World Series.

6th Annual MGTC Foundation Golf Tournament

6th Annual MGTC Foundation Golf Tournament

The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation is set to host its 6th annual Golf Tournament to support student scholarships at MGTC.

The event will take place April 1 at Houston Lake Country Club in Perry.

The tournament will begin with lunch at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun scramble at noon. Hole sponsorships, including a four-person team, are available for $1,000. Corporate sponsorships, which include entry for two teams, are $5,000.

All sponsorships include entry fees, lunch, and golf shirts for the team.

Over $4,000 in prizes will be awarded at the tournament, including prizes for long drives and closest to the pin.

Additionally, special prizes will be available for a hole-in-one and a 50/50 raffle will be available.

The MGTC Foundation’s Golf Tournament is one of three annual events responsible for raising funds to provide students with scholarships.
