Perry Police Officer Shoots, Wounds Suspect

A Perry police officer fired four shots at a stolen car suspect and wounded him.

Then the suspect drove all the way to metro Atlanta on Interstate 75 before being arrested.

All that is according to a Perry Police Department news release.

They say it happened around 9:20 p.m. Saturday on Highway 41 south, the Marshallville Highway, where four officers tried to stop a reported stolen car.

The release says the driver tried to run them down.

That's when Officer Jeff Keenom fired the shots and struck 23-year-old Brian Lucas, the driver.

The release says Lucas led officers on a chase through several counties before being arrested. He was treated at a Riverdale hospital.

Perry police say Lucas is in the Clayton County jail, charged with motor vehicle theft, aggravated assault on police officer and fleeing and attempting to elude.

Perry Man Charged With Cutting Store Clerk

Correction: Due to an error in the police news release, this story originally incorrectly identified store employee Larry Sutton.

A Perry man is charged with cutting a store clerk with a knife during an attempted robbery.

A Perry police news release says it happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday at the Perry Food Mart on Carroll Street.

The release says that when 26-year-old Damien Singletary tried to rob the store, employee Larry Sutton tried to subdue him.

When they fought, police say, Singletary cut Sutton on both hands with a knife.

Several displays and food racks were damaged during the fight, police say, and the robber ran away.

They say search dogs tracked the robber to a home on Forest Street, where police arrested Singletary and found the clothes he wore during the robbery.

He is in the Houston County jail charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Macon Police Arrest Indecent-Exposure Suspect Again

Macon police announced they have re-arrested the indecent-exposure suspect who was released from jail on bond earlier in the week.

They said Timothy Marcus of Byron turned himself just after midnight on Saturday morning.

Macon police say Marcus is suspected of exposing himself to several women on busy streets in the Vineville Avenue-Forsyth Road neighborhood.

Police arrested Marcus, 46, of Byron Thursday at his job in Perry. According to the Georgia Sex Offender Registry, Marcus was convicted of child molestation in 1996 and registered for the sex-offender registry last April.

Police charged him Thursday with one count of indecent exposure and now have a warrant for a second charge. Police say Marcus also violated superior court probation out of Marietta.

Five Arrested in Perry Drug Bust

Five people were arrested during a Perry drug bust Friday.

Capt. Heath Dykes with the Perry Police Department says the department and the Houston County Sheriff SRT team served a search warrant at a King Boulevard home.

He says Perry police first conducted an undercover operation at the house.

According to Dykes, they arrested 30-year-old Horace Parker, Jr; 25-year-old Lance Williams, 24-year-old Danel Lamer Clemons, 25-year-old Willie Ray Page and 29-year-old Raphael Howard.

Dykes says Parker and Page lived at the home.

All five were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park. Parker was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Dykes says officers seized 57 bags of marijuana, two guns and some money.
