Perry CVB Named January Business of the Month

Perry, GA-The Business Development Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes the Perry Convention and Visitors Bureau as its Business of the Month for January 2013. This award makes them eligible for the Business of the Year Award. During the ceremony, held January 8th at the Welcome Center, 2012 Chamber Chairman Rob Brooks and 2013 Business Development Chair Kelsey Hartman presented Sheila Jones and her staff with the Perry Area Chamber’s award.  In attendance were Councilman William Jackson and Joe Posey and other Perry area business leaders, as well as Perry Chamber President & CEO Stacy Campbell. Celebrating the award with Sheila Jones, Executive Director of the CVB, were members of the CVB Authority, friends, and employees of the Organization.

Perry Resident Named Museum of Aviation Volunteer of the Quarter

 

Warner Robins, GA – Dale Newhart of Perry, Georgia has been selected as the Museum of Aviation Volunteer of the Quarter.  Dale and his wife, Carol, were honored at the Museum of Aviation Foundation Board of Directors Meeting held at the Museum on December 13. 

Dale spent four years in the U. S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960 at Lowrey AFB, Colorado; Niagara Falls, New York; and Big Springs, Texas as a weapons control system technician on F-102 fighter aircraft. After his Air Force service he attended Penn State University where he received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then spent the next 29 years in engineering and procurement with IBM.

The Perry Fire Station's groundbreaking ceremony has been delayed due to "a recent abundance of rain and the residing water on site," according to a Parrish Construction Group news release.

The groundbreaking ceremony is now slated for Tuesday, October 9 at 10 a.m.

Overnight Work on I-75 Through Dooly County

If you're traveling through the night in Dooly County, you'll want to pay attention to the lane closure this weekend.

Contractors have plans to close a lane on each side of I-75 over night from Friday through Sunday, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.

That's between mile markers 104 and 105. 

If you're driving through the area, you'll want to be cautious and slow down.

Kroger Announces Spinach Recall in Georgia Stores

If you've recently purchased spinach at your local Kroger grocery store, it may be contaminated with Listeria.

Kroger is recalling spinach sold at it's stores in 15 states.

The recall affects 10 ounce packages of "Fresh Selections Tender Spinach" and had a "best if used by" date of September 16th.

Return the spinach to the store for a full refund or replacement.
