The Westfield School Varsity and B-Team cheerleading squads helped spread the Christmas spirit with patients and their families at The Children's Hospital in Macon.

On this day in history in 1913, the "Mona Lisa" painting was found after it was stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The painting had been taken in 1911.

On December 12, in 1963, The Beatles' song "I Want to Hold Your Hand," hit number one on United Kingdom charts.

In the 2000s, on this day in 2003, Keiko the whale who starred in "Free Willy" died of pneumonia. According to Smithsonian Magazine, the whale had been released into the wild after 23 years in captivity.

Perry Primary Presents "The Littlest Reindeer" Christmas Musical

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Perry Primary School first-grade students will perform a Christmas musical on Dec. 13, at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Two casts from 10 classes will present “The Littlest Reindeer.” 

Repeat performances will be presented for students and staff on Dec. 14, at 9:00 and around 10:00 a.m. 

Sheila Clopton, music specialist, is directing the musical.  Dr. Elgin Mayfield serves as principal of Perry Primary School. 

Perry Primary School is located at 1530 Sunshine Avenue in Perry.

Houston County Centralizes School Registration in 2013

 

Beginning Jan. 14, 2013, registration for all new students and students changing school zones will be offered at one site.  The Central Registration office will be located at the Bert Rumble Complex. 

Linda Horne, Assistant Superintendent for School Operations, commented, “Our overall goal is to improve customer service.  This central site will help expedite the process, ensure consistency across all 38 of our schools, and make it more convenient for those with children in more than one school.”

The International Welcome Center will be co-located at this site. Valerie Noah will serve as the Central Registration Secretary.  In addition, the system’s Homeless Liaison will serve the system’s homeless families at this central location.
