National Barrel Horse Association Championships

National Barrel Horse Association Championships

Passionate and dedicated barrel horse racer Laura Kimball will compete at this year’s National Barrel Horse Association World Championships.

That's according to a news release.

Laura and her horse will attempt to complete a clover-leaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.

Laura competes Tuesday, October 25 at around 10AM. The second time will be Thursday, October 27 around 7-8PM. These competitions could qualify Kimball for the finals on Saturday at 5 p.m.

What Laura does not share with her all of her competitors is that she’s been competing for the past 18 years with multiple sclerosis (MS) — a disease that she vowed would not take control of her life.

You can see Laura compete in the Championships at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter this weekend. The Championships take place October 23-29.

Farm to Table Event, Support Local Growers

Farm to Table Event, Support Local Growers

Perry, Georgia - Who grew the food on your dinner table? Diners at the second Farm 2 Table Event will know the answer to that question as they enjoy an eight course feast prepared with locally grown and raised food, each course perfectly paired with a fine wine. Proceeds from the dinner benefit local food projects throughout Houston County.

"Know your farmer, know your food," said Volunteer Market Organizer Jodi Daley, who encourages consumers to "keep the money spent on produce in the local economy.

Hosted by the International City Farmers Market, the community is invited to savor the succulent dishes prepared by Megan Wilson, owner of the Perfect Pear, while conversing with the very person who toiled to raise produce served that evening and learning about various initiatives in the works to raise awareness about the benefits of "eating local."
