Annual Hunting Show Kicks Off in Perry

Hunting equipment, guns, and outdoor décor are all stocked at the Georgia National Fairgrounds for the annual Buckarama.

"The good deals, I think, draws the crowds here to Buckarama.  They come here to get their upcoming hunting season needs, " said Sam Stowe, marketing director for the Georgia Wildlife Association.

Stowe says the event started 29 years ago in Atlanta.  It moved to Perry in 1991.

Vendors offer guns, clothes, bows and arrows, and a wide range of other hunting needs, but Stowe says the hunting show offers more than merchandise.

"We offer hunter's safety for kids to get their hunter's safety card, to be able to get their license and to hunt legally in Georgia," said Stowe.

"We've got a course going on in the Georgia building.  We've got about 109 people taking that course and about 80 percent of those are kids," he said.

The Buckarama ends Sunday.  Doors open at 9 a.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
