Perry wants you to shop local and win | News
Haven't finished your holiday shopping yet? Or maybe your planning to catch up after Christmas for some belated gatherings?
The city of Perry has some options close to home, encouraging you to shop local this year with some big incentives.
13WMAZ's Jennifer Moulliet explains the city's motto "Shop Perry First."
Perry's Chamber of Commerce wants you to shop at any store in town and enter your receipts into a drawing for two grand prizes.
Mallory Arnold, owner of the Sugarplum Tree, a children's boutique, says the campaign has, " Been really great for us because people want to come shop with us and then use that receipt to be entered so it's been wonderful."
You can shop anywhere in Perry to be eligible. Just bring your receipts to one of the following shops to get stamped: Ace Hardware, Ashley Marie's Boutique, Bellamy Jewelers, Coffee Cup/City Flair, ComSouth, Initial Reaction, Impressions by Carlton, New Perry Hotel, Peach Palette, Perry Area Chamber of Commerce, or the Sugarplum Tree.
Once your receipt has been stamped by one of the businesses, you'll fill out a card for the drawing. You could win a 42 inch Smart TV from Walmart or a 3/4 carat pendant from Bellamy Jewelers.
You can enter your receipts from November 29th through December 31st.
"It really means a lot to us as store owners, because people who shop local that's what keeps us in business, that's what keeps our doors open." says Arnold.
Owner of Bellamy Jewelers, Dan Bellamy, says "The key things you'll get shopping local in Perry is service, a little personal touch from the owners, staff and employees."
The winners will be drawn January 3rd.
