Tack shop burns in Perry fire
News

The Perry Fire Department spent part of the day battling a blaze at a tack shop.

According to Perry Fire Chief Joel Gray, crews were called out to the fire just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Big Indian Feed and Tack store on Kelwood Drive.

Gray tells us there were about 550 bales of hay in the back part of the building, that were all on fire. That destroyed the back of the building, and the center part of it received smoke damage.

Firefighting crews from several local agencies helped battle the blaze including Warner Robins, Peach County, and Robins Air Force Base. The base crews brought out a "crash truck."

No one was injured in the fire, and investigators are still working to determine what caused it.

Chief Gray says crews spent 5 hours extinguishing the fire completely.
