Everything is for sale at the New Perry Hotel

Everything must go.

The New Perry Hotel is under new ownership, and the contents of the 19th century restaurant and hotel are being liquidated to make room for renovations.

Hunter Joyce stopped by today to see what kind of discoveries shoppers might find.

"We're selling everything," says Jillinda Falen, co-owner of estate sale company Sweet Southern Home. "You stand still too long, we'll stick a price sticker on you."

Before the new New Perry Hotel can open, its current contents must be sold.

"Totally gut it and restore it to a beautiful event venue again, like it was back in the day," says Falen. "And in order to do that, they've got to get rid of all the stuff that's in here first."

Stuff like linens, chairs, books, even glasses from the hotel bar.

"Bed frames, dressers, end tables, night stands," Falen lists. "There's a lot of things you can repurpose, repaint, reuse."

Which has shoppers lining up to purchase a memory from the New Perry Hotel.

"Well, it's exciting. Everybody wants a little piece of history. You can have a coffee mug or a plate, or if you want to dress up like a waitress," laughs Falen.

"I purchased a Bible with the New Perry Hotel stamp in it," says Roland Fall. "Which is meaningful to me since I'm a local pastor here."

The hotel is special to Fall, he's regularly led a men's prayer breakfast here on Tuesday mornings.

"They represent some mementos that can help me remember the New Perry Hotel before this new event that's taking place in the life of the hotel, the renovation to come," says Fall.

"Oh, I'd like to see it opened as a wonderful, elegant, southern hotel and a place for people to come and dine and just a place that puts Perry on the map as it did once before," says Mary Perdue.

Proceeds from the sale will fund the renovations, and 5% will be donated to the Friends of Perry Animal Shelter and the Perry Area Historical Society.

The New Perry Hotel liquidation sale continues Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
