"Kidney Action Day Walk" 2013 | News
Join the ladies of Gamma Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc as they take it to the track to help bring AWARENESS of Kidney Disease to the community at large.
The Centers for Disease Control define Kidney Disease as "a condition in which the kidneys are damaged and cannot filter blood as well as possible. This damage can cause wastes to build up in the body and lead to other health problems, including cardiovascular disease (CVD), anemia, and bone disease."
According to the National Kidney Foundation, 26 million American adults have Chronic Kidney Disease while there are millions more still at risk. It is important to diagnose Kidney Disease early to help prevent kidney failure. That's one of the purposes of the "Action Walk"...To make sure that the community is informed of this deadly disease and in turn, share the information with others.
The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha will also be giving out FREE dental supplies to children who are taking part in the Walk in observance of National Children's Dental Month.
They are expecting a great turn out and participation from the community.
JOIN THEM SATURDAY - February 16, 2013 at 8a.m. at the Perry High School Track.
