Senator Cecil Staton Earns Perfect Score and A+ from Georgia Chamber

 

ATLANTA – Sen. Cecil Staton (R- Macon) has received the highest ranking given on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Scorecard. The Chamber’s legislative scorecard recognizes legislators that were most supportive of the business community during the 2012 Legislative Session.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Georgia Chamber for my efforts to enact pro-business legislation aimed at strengthening Georgia’s private sector and our economy,” said Sen. Staton. “Serving as a member of the Senate Rules, Senate Appropriations, Senate Finance and Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committees, as well as Majority Whip, it was a privilege to work with legislators and interested stakeholders to make Georgia a better place to live, work and do business.”

Tri-City Mayors to Give Proclamations for Chamber Week 2012

WARNER ROBINS, GA- Warner Robins Mayor, Chuck Shaheen; Centerville Mayor, John Harley; and Perry Mayor, Jimmy Faircloth will give an official proclamation for the 2012 Chamber Week TODAY at 2:00p.m.  Event will be held at the Chamber offices; 1228 Watson Blvd.  The Robins Regional Chamber anticipates an exciting time as they host the very first Chamber Week (May 14- 18, 2012).  A brand new initiative of the Chamber, the week will showcase the role that the Chamber plays in the community by focusing on leadership development, community and government advocacy, education and networking.

Be ready to amaze yourself!  Come and enjoy painting, drawing, sculpting clay, as we work with mix mediums, along with jewelry making.  Emphasis on creativity, form and detail with the use of a variety of exciting materials.  Snack provided.

Chamber Cuts the Ribbon for Christian Fellowship Baptist Church

 

PERRY- The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting on May 1, 2012, to celebrate the starting of Christian Fellowship Church South.  In attendance were Perry Chamber Chairman Rob Brooks, Mayor Jimmy Faircloth, Bishop Dr Harvey Bee, First Lady Dr Veronica Bee, Pastor Rayfield Boyd and First Lady April Boyd. Other well wishers in attendance were Perry area business leaders, Perry Chamber staff, and members of Christian Fellowship South. Prayer began the celebration. The Ribbon Cutting was followed by refreshments and fellowship.

Thirteen Schools to Be Represented at Special Olympics

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Special Olympics will be held May 4, 2012, 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.  Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 participate.  The event begins with a short program welcoming the student athletes, parents and teachers, followed by the lighting of the Olympic torch to begin the games.

Awards are given throughout the day.  Approximately 350 students from 13 schools have registered to compete in track and field events such as the 50-meter walk/run, soccer skills, running/standing long jump and wheelchair events.  About 200 volunteers will help run the competitions, cheer on the competitors and present medals at the awards ceremony.  Some of the volunteers are high school students who partner in school with their special needs classmates.

Air Show Features Blue Angels

ROBINS, AFB., GA.--The Air Show lineup features performers including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, F-18 Hornets, the C-130 Hercules, and the Air Force F-22 Raptor.

The air show is free and open to the public and starts at 11:30 a.m.

You can park at the Macon Airport, McConnell-Talbert Stadium and Anchor Glass and then catch bus transportation to the show. The shuttle starts at 9:45 a.m. both days and gates open at 10 a.m.

The shuttle runs until 5 p.m.
