Houston County Centralizes School Registration in 2013

 

Beginning Jan. 14, 2013, registration for all new students and students changing school zones will be offered at one site.  The Central Registration office will be located at the Bert Rumble Complex. 

Linda Horne, Assistant Superintendent for School Operations, commented, “Our overall goal is to improve customer service.  This central site will help expedite the process, ensure consistency across all 38 of our schools, and make it more convenient for those with children in more than one school.”

The International Welcome Center will be co-located at this site. Valerie Noah will serve as the Central Registration Secretary.  In addition, the system’s Homeless Liaison will serve the system’s homeless families at this central location. 

The following items are required for registration:

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Houston County School System offers students and parents numerous online study guides and testing tips.  Review materials for upcoming state assessments are posted to the Houston County Board of Education Testing Department page at http://www.hcbe.net/testing.aspx

Additional Georgia High School Graduation Test review materials supplied by the Teaching and Learning subject area coordinators have been posted to this site in an area named Georgia High School Graduation Review Materials.  These materials include practice assessments for some subjects and math videos to assist the students reviewing.

Each major assessment is hyperlinked below for quick access to testing dates and guides.  A list of some of the materials available on the Testing Department website follows.

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional and Perry Area Chambers of Commerce will host an information session regarding the upcoming vote on the proposed Charter Schools Amendment.  The event will be held from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Robins Regional Chamber; 1228 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins.

Board of Education to Honor Years of Service

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Houston County Board of Education will honor employees who have served 45, 35 or 30 years in the Houston County School System today, Oct. 16, 2012.  A reception will be held in their honor at 12:30 p.m. at the Eric P. Staples central office in Perry. 

The reception is sponsored by H.E.A. Federal Credit Union and Stevi B’s.  During the 1:00 p.m. Board meeting, honorees will be called to the stage individually to be presented a framed certificate, years of service pin, Board of Education lapel pin and Board of Education medallion by Superintendent Dr. Robin Hines and members of the Board.  The H.E.A. Federal Credit Union will also present the honorees with a gift.

Senator Tolleson to Visit Perry Primary for Georgia Pre-K Week

Senator Tolleson to Visit Perry Primary for Georgia Pre-K Week

Senator Ross Tolleson has plans to drop by Perry Primary and visit with the Pre-K classes.

According to a news release, Senator Tolleson's visit honors the Georgia Pre-K program's 20th Anniversary. That's on Friday, October 5. He's scheduled to visit from 9 until 10 a.m.

About 140 Georgia officials are slated to visit 3800 Pre-K classrooms Friday.
