The Perry Fire Station's groundbreaking ceremony has been delayed due to "a recent abundance of rain and the residing water on site," according to a Parrish Construction Group news release.

The groundbreaking ceremony is now slated for Tuesday, October 9 at 10 a.m.

Eat at Dickey's Barbecue Pit for dinner and a portion of proceeds will go to The Humane Society of Houston County.

On September 26, from 5-8 p.m., your meal serve two purposes: it'll feed you and your family as well as help feed those sweet animals at the Humane Society.

Dickey's is located in the Publix Shopping Center on Watson Blvd. across from Tractor Supply.

Overnight Work on I-75 Through Dooly County

If you're traveling through the night in Dooly County, you'll want to pay attention to the lane closure this weekend.

Contractors have plans to close a lane on each side of I-75 over night from Friday through Sunday, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.

That's between mile markers 104 and 105. 

If you're driving through the area, you'll want to be cautious and slow down.

Schools and Legislators Celebrate Constitution Day

 

Houston County, GA – Houston County schools will celebrate Constitution Day on Sept. 17, 2012.  This day is set aside annually to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, and those who have become U.S. citizens.  Three elementary schools will have special guests to help celebrate Constitution Day.  Senator Ross Tolleson will speak at Morningside Elementary at 9:00 a.m.; Sherriff Cullen Talton will visit Bonaire Elementary at 10:00 a.m.; and County Commissioner Gail Robinson will address Matt Arthur Elementary students at 9:35 a.m.

Jones Zone | Who Will Win: Peach County or Perry?

The Jones Zone kicks off the 2012 football schedule this week! Ben and Lorra go head to head each week picking their game winners.

They want you to also weigh in and vote! This week, you can vote for Peach County vs. Perry, Tattnall vs. Westfield and Dublin vs. Dodge County.

Last year, Lorra took home the Jones Zone championship, but you, the fans, fought hard to make her win as narrow as possible. Even Ben wasn't far behind!
