Get Organized: Make a List

Get Organized: Make a List

Every since I was a little girl I have been in love with writing lists. My mother and grandmother were great list makers with columns of words sprinkled around the piece of paper. Today I still love a handwritten list as my ever present notebook of list proves.

However, my list writing days may be soon be over. Now there is a great online resource for printable lists of every kind imaginable - ListPlanIt.com. The categories of lists available on ListPlanIt.com range from family matters to financial planning to time management to fun.

Houston County Jobless Rate Released

Houston County Jobless Rate Released

The jobless rate for Houston County in December 2012 was 7.4 percent.

That's 1.4 percent lower than the state's unemployment rate of 8.8 percent

According to a state news release, unemployment rose to 9.2 percent from November's 8.7 percent rate, but it was down from December 2011 when the rate was 9.5 percent.

Officials claim the rise comes from a combination of factors, including a "slight increase" in new layoffs and a reduction in the area work force.

The uptick reflects a similar statewide trend. However, the jobless rate across Georgia only rose one-tenth of percentage point while metro Macon's rate jumped five-tenths of a percentage point.

Welcoming 2013: Making the Most of the New Year

Welcoming 2013: Making the Most of the New Year

Today is my first day in the office for 2013. I intentionally took time off over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays to step back from work, enjoy my family and clear my head. Now I’m back and ready to hit the ground running! How about you?

In the past I’ve never been much of a believer in writing down my goals or making them for that matter. It all seemed a little woo-woo and out there. However in 2012 I worked with a wonderful organizer and business coach Paris Love (www.parisloveinstitute.com) who convinced me of the importance of setting goals.

Meet Me at the Mistletoe Market

Meet Me at the Mistletoe Market

I feel a little bit like an elf this week as I am scurrying around finishing preparations for my booth at this weekend’s Mistletoe Market. To me it is the beginning of the holiday season here in Middle Georgia and I loved seeing all the great products everyone was selling, visiting with friends and making new ones!

For those of you who don’t live in Middle Georgia, Mistletoe Market is a Christmas marketplace sponsored by the Balvaunuca Club. The club donates their proceeds from the sale to worthy community organizations. In 2011 they gave away $40,000! This year it is being held in its new location in the Miller-Murphy-Howard building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry on November 16-18.
