2nd Annual Paper Crafting Extravaganza

This is an expo for all the scrapbooking fiends out there!

The cropping, shopping, classes, make-n-takes, prizes and giveaways is all on Friday & Saturday, May 13 & 14.

You can find this expo at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry.

Vendor hours are at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and cropping hours are 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. both days.

Parking is free, pre-registration is $5 and admission at the door is $7.

Perry High Presents Zombie Prom

Perry High School’s performance of Zombie Prom will be presented May 12 - 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Perry High School Theatre. 

A musical comedy, the performance is rated PG. 

Civil War Re-enactment Coming to Perry Museum April 16

Civil War Re-enactment Coming to Perry Museum April 16
The Perry Area Historical Society will join with the GA 57th Regimental Re-enactors to present a Living History of a Civil War encampment on Saturday, April 16, from noon until 4 p.m. at their museum location at 901 Northside Drive in Perry.  Children will be treated to games from the period and Re-enactors will be in uniform and period dress.  They will demonstrate camp life, weaponry and the vittles of the Civil War soldier.  The original GA 57th  Infantry was formed in Savannah, Ga in May 1862.  Company E of the 57th was comprised of men from Houston and surrounding counties.

PHS Book Drive for Summer Project

The Perry High School Student Council will wrap up a book drive next week in conjunction with National Library Week.  The students collected books for the school system’s Read and Feed summer book mobile project.  (Details about the Read and Feed are provided in the PSA shown below.)  Perry High’s book drive resulted in about 500 books to contribute to the project.  

In addition, the high school students used a Web site to identify the level of each book and have labeled and sorted the books accordingly.  A few of Perry High’s students are pictured working on the books.?

Lake Joy Elementary will receive the books to add to the collection.   Rhonda Walters, media specialist, sponsored this project.  Perry High School is located at 1307 North Avenue Drive in Perry.  Dr. Darryl Albritton serves as principal.  

Junior Journalist Auditions

Junior journalist auditions will take place today at the Galleria Mall in Centerville from 4-6 p.m.

The child auditioning must be born between August 1, 1998 and August 1, 2001. You must bring proof of date of birth to the audition.

The audition in Macon will take place Tuesday, April 5 from 4-6 p.m. in the Museum of Arts and Sciences.

The children will be scored on the spot during the first round of auditions. The top scoring 50 kids will be called back for a second round, where they will answer questions on camera. A panel of 13WMAZ employees will judge those auditions. The top scoring 25 kids will move on to a final round that will be judged by a community panel. We will not contact the children between rounds 2 and 3. We will surprise the winning children in their classrooms before school lets out for the summer.

Fine Art Society Hosts Art Show

Fine Arts Society members will have original artwork, prints, cards, pottery and other items for sale.The event takes place Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.


Belly Dance Troupe to Perform at Dogwood Festival

The Perry Bellydance Studio and guests are scheduled to perform at The Perry Dogwood Festival Sat March 9th from 2-4 p.m.

They will be performing in Downtown Perry.
