UPDATE: Bomb search continues at Perdue Farms in Perry

UPDATE: Workers at the Perdue Farms chicken plant returned to work around 10:30 a.m. today after search teams did not find a bomb there.

The building was cleared for about three hours after a bomb threat.

Authorities in Houston County are searching the Perdue Farms chicken plant in Perry after a bomb threat was called in Wednesday morning.

According to Lt. David Carrick of the Houston County Sheriff's Office, as of 10:52 Wednesday morning, the bomb-sniffing K-9 and other officers are still searching the buildings at the Perdue Farms chicken plant. Carrick says, so far, "no suspicious packages have been found."

According to Carrick, at 7:25 Wednesday morning, someone called in a bomb threat to the chicken processing plant on Hwy. 247 in Perry.

Carrick said the plant is currently being searched by one bomb-sniffing dog from Houston County, and officers from other agencies.

Everyone has been evacuated from the buildings, and, so far, there have been no injuries.

Witnesses at the plant say many employees are standing outside the buildings in the cold weather, waiting to get back inside and work.
