News

A man was arrested in Perry Wednesday evening, after he allegedly caused a multiple-vehicle wreck and drove away from the scene.

According to the Georgia State Patrol post in Perry, the accident happened in Perry at around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon, near the intersection of Houston Lake Road and the North Perry Bypass.

State Patrol Trooper John Hardage says Kenneth Nathan Ellis sideswiped a white pickup truck, then backed into another vehicle, and drove away from the scene.

A Houston County Sheriff's deputy chased after Ellis, but Ellis hid in woods for about an hour and a half.

Deputies and state patrol officers found Ellis hiding in a storage shed on Wren Drive, near Lake Joy Road in Perry, and arrested him around 5:00 Wednesday evening.

Ellis is charged with leaving the scene of the accident, driving under the influence, improper backing and failure to maintain lanes, according to the state patrol. No one was injured in the accident.
